A taxing time for some
As April 15 approached, Jay Brandley made a note to order sandwiches for the office, with lots of coffee and soda.
"Anything with caffeine is good," said Brandley, who has been preparing taxes at the Jackson Hewitt office at Cherry Hill Mall since the branch opened in 1995.
Uncle Sam's filing deadline typically propels about 1.4 million of New Jersey's 4.2 million taxpayers on a quest for documents and deductions, starting around April 1. Most of them wait until the last two days to file, said Gregg Semanick, state spokesman for the Internal Revenue Service.
