Cherry Hill ShopRite recalls meat

Officials at ShopRite in the Garden State Pavilions say small bits of black foam tray that led to a voluntary recall of some of its store-made ground beef and meat-loaf mix is an "isolated incident."

The meat was sold at the ShopRite, located in the Route 70 shopping center in Cherry Hill, and bears the ShopRite logo with the sell-by-date of Feb. 27.

Melange Cafe to close in Cherry Hill

Cherry Hill's Melange Cafe, serving an Italian-Louisiana mix, is closing after 15 years on Chapel Avenue.

Chef Joe Brown has made the decision to focus more on his spin-off restaurant, Melange@Haddonfield, 18 Tanner St. in Haddonfield.

The Haddonfield location is bigger, newer and has more parking, Brown notes in the release.

Costco and Wegmans top foodie poll

Though the closest Costco is a few towns away, in Mount Laurel, Cherry Hill is home to supermarket giant Wegmans.

Courier-Post reporter and blogger Eileen Smith featured a story today on her Shop 'Til You Drop blog, which said that Wegmans and Costco were chosen as the top grocery retailers.

Cherry Hill chef gets taste of spotlight

But Chef Richard Marsh, co-owner of Andreotti's Viennese Cafe on Route 70 in Cherry Hill, is looking forward to his appearance tonight on the FOX reality show.

"Kitchen Nightmares" stars Gordon Ramsay, the Simon Cowell of the reality food genre. On each episode, Ramsay dishes out a harsh helping of tough love as he tries to save struggling restaurants.

Food Challenge to nourish Project Graduation

Cherry Hill High School West is hoping to start a tradition with its first Food Challenge on Feb. 5.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m., local residents can show off their kitchen skills with their best baked goods. A panel of experts will judge the desserts.

All proceeds will benefit the senior class' Project Graduation event.
