‘Stink’ Fisher relishes pivotal role in ‘Lovely Bones’

By AMY LONGSDORF
For the Courier-Post

Forget about conventional acting lessons. Bill "Stink" Fisher learned his craft on the streets of Knollwood Drive in Cherry Hill.

Along with his younger brother and their pals, Fisher spent many an afternoon wrapped up in action-packed games of army. Pretending to be soldiers, they'd fill their backpacks with rations and speed around the neighborhood on their bikes, dodging imaginary gunfire.

Long lines at Loews for ‘New Moon’

Last night at AMC Loews Cherry Hill 24 on Route 38, my friend and I were certainly among the minority of movie goers who were not seeing 'Twilight: New Moon.'

Here's just part of the line that we saw outside of one of the 'Twilight' auditoriums at Loews last night:

People waiting in line for Twilight New Moon at Loews.

If you're planning on seeing the second installment of the 'Twilight' saga this weekend, I would suggest ordering tickets in advance and arriving early.

As was recently mentioned on his blog, Tucker Max's film "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell," which opened in over 100 theaters nationwide last week, will be opening at AMC Loews Cherry Hill 24 this week.

The film, in which Max has a cameo role, is based on Max's books, and is "the shocking, ridiculous and hilarious  real life adventures of Tucker Max– (it is) the story of an impromptu bachelor party gone horribly awry."

Through his books and Web site, Tucker Max has obtained popularity among a college crowd for his stories of drinking, women and often politically correct humor.

Below the jump is an interview I did today with him:

Made in Jersey

Lawrence Bender, former Cherry Hill native and producer of multiple Quentin Tarantino films including the current "Inglourious Basterds", credits his success to his South Jersey roots

By AMY LONGSDORF
For the Courier-Post

Little did Lawrence Bender know that when he left Cherry Hill back in 1975, he was taking with him not only a life-long addiction to the King of Pizza, but also a practical guide in how to become a successful Hollywood producer.

"My upbringing in South Jersey put an emphasis on creativity and practicality," he said during a phone cBender and Tarantinoall from his Los Angeles office. "It was like the best of both worlds, and it's those two (strengths) that I rely on when I'm producing a movie."

Since he began overseeing feature films more than two decades ago, Bender's projects ("Pulp Fiction," "Good Will Hunting," "Anna and the King" and "An Inconvenient Truth," among others) have garnered 21 Oscar nominations, including two for Best Picture.
